However,
I have read about half of your (too) long Commentary "Un-packaging the News from Yugoslavia", and have this to say:
- who cares about all that local history of the Republic of Yugoslavia? The ONLY pertinent facts, hard facts mind you, is WHO is killing WHO?
- who cares about "..cultural, capitalist expansion into Eastern Europe...", a purist, intellectual notion lacking substance and unable to resist the most basic demands for rational proof? The ONLY pertinent facts, hard facts mind you, is WHO is killing WHO?
- I am personally proud of the fact that we are moving toward a Global Government, an association of individual existing peoples, acting harmoniously --be it to do commerce or whatever-- instead of physically killing each other! Don't you get it? 'Tis better to eat MacDonald's hamburgers and drool on Pamela's chest than spilling your guts for a crazy Nationalist Ideal! Here in Quebec, over there in Ireland, or in Basque Spain, or in Jerusalem or Kosovo... the only simple pattern I'm capable of distinguishing is a choice between 2 options:
(1) Taking existing "groups" of peoples and joining them to other groups in order to create a greater group.
(2) Taking ONE existing "group" and, through means spanning from referendums to outright bloody war, to split that group into 2 smaller ones.
I will choose (1) any day and I'm becoming tired of all the bozos in the world who are creating terribly negative results by striving for (2).
